TIO Networks Corp. announced, on 1 December 2017, that, following a review of a data breach it suffered, it had determined that the personally identifiable information of approximately 1.6 million customers may have been affected. However, TIO stated that the systems of PayPal Holdings, Inc., its parent company, had not been impacted in any way, as TIO's systems are completely separate from the PayPal network, and PayPal's customers' data remains secure.

PayPal had previously announced, on 10 November 2017, that upon the discovery

of security vulnerabilities on the TIO platform, it had initated an internal investigation and TIO's operations had been suspended.
